We’ve already hit the ground running into 2025, but take a moment to explore the biggest fitness trends and wellness focuses that will shine through this year.

The top 7 workout trends for 2025

Some fitness trends are about jumping on the latest ideas, while others reflect tried-and-true methods.

Before we get into them, though, remember – it’s about utilizing what trends are most relevant to you, and using them to build a more valuable and sustainable fitness routine with F45. Now, read on as we guide you through the top seven workout trends of 2025.

1. Digital Workouts + Wearables

Digital and out of home workouts have opened many new possibilities for all aspects of life, and exercise trends are no exception.

One example? F45 home workouts. Miss a class, traveling, or too busy to make it to your studio today? Download our F45 app and browse by equipment and workout type. Get your full F45 workout from wherever you’re located.

Wearables are another aspect that will take your exercise goals and provide you with a plan that’s specific to you. And when we say specific, we mean specific. Our Lionheart monitor offers:

  • Real-time feedback: Provides heart rate data in real time, so you can monitor your intensity and effort

  • Points system: Awards points based on heart rate, which can motivate you to push harder

  • Reports: Provides daily and historical reports that help you assess your progress

  • Personalized workouts: Trainers can tailor workouts based on your heart rate data

Wearables can help you stay motivated and challenge yourself to meet and exceed your goals. They also help track your performance, giving you insights to where you can improve and find success over time.

2. Agespecific workouts

This next workout trend is all about exercise meeting people where they’re at – and ensuring different demographic feels welcome in modern workout environments.

Making exercise more accessible for older people is crucial for maintaining quality of life, preventing injury, slowing muscle loss and reducing a range of health risks¹. That’s why we help older fitness enthusiasts customize and plan workouts when they hit 60. By providing age- or life stage-specific workouts, we aim to help different demographics educate themselves about their own health – and make informed decisions that support your body. That could be exploring how to exercise during menopause and perimenopause, or focusing on movements that reduce knee pain.

Our trainers can modify classes for different ages, life experiences and fitness levels to ensure everyone is able to get the most out of their workout. At F45, we want everyone to feel welcome, empowered and comfortable when they walk into the studio.

3. Functional fitness

One of the top fitness trends for 2025 is functional fitness – a type of exercise designed to help you move with confidence by simulating movements you regularly perform throughout the routines of your home, workplace and hobbies.

What’s the point, after all, in being able to push or pull weights into unnatural positions – when you aren’t comfortable bending down to pick something up?

Examples of functional exercises include:

  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Overhead press
  • Step-ups
  • Push-ups

At F45, our resistance and hybrid workouts are stacked with functional movements: helping you build and maintain muscle while torching those calories.

4. Mental health and wellbeing

Although this is not a trend, we have included it in our list as a constant that should remain a focus not just this year, but every year of your life. Improved mental wellbeing is a long-established perk of working out – but it may not necessarily be your main purpose for doing so.

Well, new fitness trends – like holistic weight loss management plans – aim to place improved mental health at the center of your workout. That means it’s not just physical milestones (such as the weight you’re lifting, or the number of reps you’re able to do) that should be celebrated. It’s mental progress – reducing stress and anxiety, for example, and boosting your feelings of calm or clarity – too. Group workouts are proven to aid in mental wellbeing²: reducing loneliness and fostering a sense of belonging, as well as promoting the release of mood-boosting endorphins.

This isn’t to take away from other exercise goals, but it’s useful to remember that weight loss is partially hormonal, and that building muscle is influenced by genetics. By focusing on mental health, you’re rewarded every time you exercise!

5. High intensity interval training (HIIT)

Another exercise trend that will be continuing to grow in 2025 is HIIT training.

Blasting both your cardiovascular system and your muscles, HIIT workouts usually take anywhere between 10 and 45 minutes and involve periods of high intensity, followed by short intervals of rest or low-intensity exercise.

HIIT workouts are in-demand because they’re time efficient and dynamic, providing more benefits than you’d get from longer, more moderate exercise³. (And for more information on this, explore our guide to the difference between HIIT and cardio.)

HIIT training is empowering and enjoyable, but you can’t work out at that intensity all the time – so don’t forget the importance of rest days and recovery workouts.

6. Adaptive exercise classes

In the past, the problem with group fitness classes or preset workout routines was that they were more beneficial for some than for others. If you were unable to do an exercise, for instance, you’d be tempted to either perform the exercise with incorrect form – or simply skip it and rejoin once the instructor changes exercise.

That was, until adaptive exercise classes came along.

One of 2025’s top fitness trends aims to make workouts accessible to everyone. To encourage instructors and workout programs to offer multiple modifications of an exercise; and consider the different ability levels, strains or aches, and potential disabilities of participants. This helps you train in comfort, as well as reducing back strain and preventing injury during your workout.

7. Metabolic workouts

Metabolic workouts involve full-body circuit training and conditioning, rotating you through a variety of calorie-burning exercises designed to elevate your metabolism (and we know that a fast and productive metabolism supports weight loss4.)

Importantly, metabolic workouts enable you to burn fat not only during the workout – but after it, too. The idea behind metabolic workouts is that you continue to use body fat (as energy) post-workout via an “afterburn” effect, contributing to your body’s overall health and fitness.

F45 Training’s resistance workouts are fantastic for your metabolism and lean muscle mass, providing a strong foundation to take advantage of this exercise trend. Expect to do plenty of compound exercises: such as kettlebell swings, mountain climbers, burpees and renegade rows. If you want to enhance your body composition, top up your workout routine with a healthy and balanced diet packed with whole foods.

2025 is the year to take your health and wellbeing to a new level! With the latest fitness trends and wellness focuses, plus the team at F45 in your corner, now is the time to smash your workout goals.

That said, the importance of nutrition shouldn’t be understated – so next, explore how a biohacking diet can support your weight loss journey.
